Vice President of Business Development

After relocating to Washington, DC in 2014, Dana has spent the past 15 months consulting for a number of clients including the Louisville Sports Commission, Philadelphia 76ers and Red Frog Events. Prior to the move to DC, in her role as Senior Vice President of Business Development with the Competitor Group (CGI), Dana was able to build upon her 15+ years of experience in the sports industry.

Her diverse experience includes event management and operations, sponsorship sales, client management and business development. Dana’s career started at International Management Group (IMG). She then joined the organizing committee of the 2003 World Road Cycling Championships as director of operations, which then led to the role of general manager of the Canada Running Series overseeing the management of multiple national running events.

At Competitor Group, Dana was a member of the senior leadership team and led the company’s business development efforts which directly resulted in the significant growth of the event division. From 2008 – 2012, Competitor saw revenue and EBITDA gains from $35M and $3M+ respectively to over $115M and $18M. Dana led the expansion of the company’s flagship event asset, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series, from 5 events to over 30 throughout North America and Europe. As a member of the Senior Management team, Dana was an active participant in the formal sale process of the company in 2012 with investment bank, Perella Weinberg. This process involved 25 initial bids, 13 management presentations and 8 bidders through full due diligence. The team successfully closed the transaction selling the business to Calera Capital in Nov. 2012.

In 2012, Sports Business Journal recognized Dana with a “Game Changer: Women in Sports Business” Award, highlighting women who have played significant roles in their respective fields and made critical decisions that will help shape organizations in the future. When not pursuing her work passions, as a former competitive runner she can often be found running and enjoying the outdoors in Washington DC where she resides with her husband Chris.
